Volk Gallery is proud to present the work of Maeve Callister-Wafer. Each Volk artist is given a size limit and budget and left to their own devices. With this brief, Callister-Wafer has produced viewfinders, adorned with graphic lino prints. Manx Gaelic, Callister-Wafer’s native language from the Isle of Man, often acts as the driving force behind her work. These viewfinders encourage us to look at how the landscape and language reflect and shape each other, and the impacts of their decline and revival. The editions connect Gaelic Manx and English words with nature, pushing us to get outside and perhaps even learn a little Manx.
