Volk Gallery is proud to present the work of Shonagh Kelly. Each Volk artist is given a size limit and budget and left to their own devices. With this brief, Kelly has produced a series of prints documenting tea towels as they dance in the wind. Kelly intends to give light to these mighty pieces of the household that often get forgotten, whilst reminiscing on her Grandmother's own old Irish linen tea towels. Each print is accompanied by a bookmark contact sheet and a single slide negative - you’ll either receive a found, vintage image or a negative from the series itself.
Artist's Statement
Shonagh Kelly is an Irish, Glasgow based photographer. Shonagh works both within commercial and documentary photography, making sure to capture the moments that are otherwise overlooked. With being constantly inundated with digital imagery, working with analogue film forces the photographer to slow down and to truly consider her subject, something to be cherished in this day and age.
