Volk Gallery is proud to present the work of Dylan Chalmers. Each Volk artist is given a size limit and budget and left to their own devices. With this brief, Chalmers has produced a series of postcards utulising photography of Dundee’s cityscape. Imagery focusses on our city’s mix of architectural styles, from brutalist to baroque. Chalmers asks us to consider our surroundings and question our ever changing built environment by splicing together varying viewpoints into three distinctive designs.
Artist's Statement
Dylan Chalmers is a multi-disciplinary graphic design student at DJCAD. His work spans a wide range of mediums–photography, typography, and illustration–often accentuated by self-crafted modular grids. Intrigued by the interplay of sharp lines and shapes, these grids are quickly becoming a defining element of his style. Approaching his fourth year, Dylan is looking to delve into another phase of experimental exploration within graphic design.Having recently co-founded the clothing brand “Pitis” he is again looking to further develop his design process and apply this to broader visual challenges.
