Volk Gallery is proud to present the work of Phoebe Wilman. Each Volk artist is given a size limit and budget and left to their own devices. With this brief, Wilman has produced a series of 50 riso prints depicting onigiri, a Japanese food made with white rice and often wrapped in nori or rolled in sesame seeds. The rice is shaped into a triangle and filled with salty or sour ingredients such as salmon or pickled takana. These prints are accompanied by individual packets of soy sauce for the audience to sprinkle over sushi, onigiri, or whatever dish we wish.
Artist's Statement
Phoebe Wilman is a fourth-year graphic design student at DJCAD. Her work primarily focuses on items found in Chinese Supermarkets, inspired by nostalgia and her experience of growing up as a mixed-race person in the UK. Phoebe also loves all things cute: from packaging design to illustration to any form of inanimate object with a silly face on it!

Discovering risograph printing outside of her university work, it has now become her main medium for her prints. This has led her to start her own print business: RiSoda Print Studio.
